Fall into Fun in Harrison County, Corydon
Perfect for family fun or grownup getaways!
Below ground, at treetop level or in a tasting room, Harrison County offers great fall getaways.
Underground marvels. Your kids will love touring Indiana Caverns in Corydon and Squire Boone Caverns in Mauckport. Both sites offer above-ground fun, too, like gem and rock panning, picnicking, log cabins and more. Indiana Caverns was just discovered in 2010 and recently opened to the public, while Squire Boone and his brother, Daniel, discovered those caverns in 1790.
Zip through the trees. Continue your adventure high among the trees with Squire Boone Caverns Zipline Adventures! You will zip through the air, zooming over scenic forests and ravines with views of the Squire Boone Caverns and Village. It's secure, affordable, and one of the most memorable outdoor adventure experiences around!
Get lost in fun. Deere Farms is a fall family-oriented entertainment venue with a lot of attractions planned for the 2015 season. For an additional charge, you can try a BRAND NEW Bungee Jump, Gem Mining, Barrel Train Rides and Corn Cannon. Look for the posted pig race schedule each day. Have a taste of Harrison. Southern Indiana's rolling hills are the perfect place to grow grapes - and also make wine. Indian Creek Winery is a stop on the Hoosier Wine Trail, offering free tastings daily and frequent live music. Corydon's Turtle Run Winery is known for incredible scenery, insanely complex dry red and white wines, sweet wines with no sugar added, a Sunday concert series with some of the region's best bands and the most unusual winery tours imaginable! Best Vineyards Winery is the newest member of the Uplands Wine Trail, where you can enjoy scenic vistas from the four-acre vineyard; wines produced from Indiana-grown products like grapes, other fruits and honey; as well as live music. You can also enjoy free tastings and live music at Scout Mountain Winery, outside Corydon. Here you can sit on the deck and relax for a while, walk the vineyard, or talk to the wine maker himself. They also carry homemade Italian, cheddar-herb bread and, while in season, a special recipe of zucchini bread. You can also sample wine Wednesday - Sunday at the new Quibble Hill Winery in DePauw. Sit on the front porch of their two-story log cabin winery, which overlooks the vineyard. Add extra thrills to your wine adventure at the Harrison County Harness Racing and Wine Festival on September 26 at the Harrison County Fairgrounds.
Enjoy the great outdoors. O’Bannon Woods State Park is always a great place to visit. Each weekend in October offers even more reasons to head to Corydon. Check out Apples, Engines and Hay Day on October 3.
